Lost/found animals Schiedam
SUBMITTED – The Lost/Found Animals Schiedam Facebook page warns cat owners not to take risks this New Year’s Eve: “
Is your cat still outside, bring her in now! Dog owners are also advised to pay very close attention: “Do you still have to go out with the dog, do it in your garden, or quickly in front of the door, on a double leash.” Lost and found reports are pouring in! ”
The initiator behind the site, Leonie Bowman, also gave an overview of 2022.
“We are already nearing the end of this special year. Like every year, I will bring you back to what we have all experienced together.
First the numbers:
In 2022, 320 animals, mostly cats, will be repatriated to Schiedam.
68 found/caught cats received a golden basket in exchange for life on the street.
There are still 24 cats currently missing.
Since 2021, 13 cats are still missing.
As of 2020, 16 cats are still missing.
As of 2019, 21 cats and one dog (Kenzo) are still missing.
Since 2018, 21 cats are still missing.
Unfortunately, there were also owners who had to say goodbye to their cat.
So we take a moment to remember the deaths of: Denver (the dog) and the cats Fromel, Pochi, Willemyn, Bentley, Primo, Julia, Bebo, Moose, Simba, Sajaki, Homeltje, Ziva, Bassa, Misha and Lizzy.
We also think of 29 deceased cats whose owner was never told…
We also mention some special moments:
Morky: The cat whose discoverers took care of her for ten years, after the owner told her he no longer needed her… Fortunately, we were actually able to help this sweetheart get rid of the stutterer. fur. But it also turned out that he had a toothache … I donated large amounts at that time, and 500 euros were collected.
Unfortunately, the caretaker fell in with Morky when he wanted to put him in the basket to go to the vet, and Morky was so shocked that he completely lost faith. The attempt after that was also unsuccessful so we have to give it some more time. Of course the amount will remain separate for Morky. In the meantime, he’s getting painkillers into his diet, so he doesn’t suffer, and hopefully with good news soon…
On the 4th of February, I got a call in the middle of the night from animal friends that they had found my missing shugaki at Mc Donald’s in Spaande Polder. Thanks to their help, Shujaiki was able to reunite with his owner the next day, after being missing for seven months.
On February 17th, we caught the cat who had been hiding in his shed for two weeks using a hunting cage, and guess what: it was a missing Moos! He managed to go home after 1.5 months.
On February 20th we managed to catch a cat during the violent storm Eunice, after it was dumped in the parking lot of the shelter in Vlaardingen. Her name was appropriately Eunice, and she found a golden basket…
On February 24, Bambi’s dog went missing after standing in front of a supermarket. It turned out to be stolen. After much searching and good detective work, he was found and reunited. He now has new owners.
May 27: A cat fell for the second time from a balcony. Five years ago we had already managed to catch them by cage. Fortunately, this worked again.
Report 23 July A shy little cat. After good teamwork we managed to catch this little boy in the hunting cage and with the good care of the shelter he grew into a very cute dumpling named Marley.
Aug 26: A cat was reported meowing in a parking lot. We managed to read the chip, and found out that it was the lost Buddha from Rotterdam. Getting caught was another story, he got away, luckily the owner got to the scene and they managed to catch him. After 4.5 months he was able to go home.
August 26: We received some reports of an unknown cat in the neighborhood. We managed to put it in a basket. We couldn’t believe our eyes, it really was Teddy! The cat who was missing for 2.5 years and then became homeless. The owner was very happy with the news that Teddy was doing well. Unfortunately, the owner could not provide for him himself, but we did arrange for the owner to meet and see him off. The owner is very grateful for the help, and Teddy is very happy in his new home.
October 4th: Thanks to a sight report from our members, we were able to make the match with missing Mimi.
The owner went to the scene and, after a good search, managed to find Mimi and take her home. Mimi has returned home safely after being missing for 8 months.
December 9: A report found that a sweet cat was shivering in front of the door for some time. It turned out to be a cat. Perhaps the cats are still nursing somewhere. A discussion started about returning the cat, which was not possible because the cat was already in the shelter, and it was not allowed to be returned. We searched, hung flyers, approached people, rang doorbells everywhere, posted it everywhere on social media, on Amivedi and looking for my animals, but unfortunately it was all in vain, no owner reported, no cats found small. ..
It is always easy to judge from behind a curtain. We do our best, if you know better, come and help us!
These were some special moments last year, without the commitment and help of our members and the team, we could not have done it… Thanks again!
And we can’t say that much, please cut and file your animal!
Our group is still growing, we are already over 4,700 members!
Thanks to your attention, advice and reports, we have made sure that many animals come home again.
But we have also been able to help many found animals, injured animals and animals that have been wandering around aimlessly because you reported this. I really want to thank you so much for that!! Please continue to report this as well. These are the animals that need us so they don’t have to be on the streets anymore…
I would like to say a huge thank you, dear members! “
