4.40pm: Illegal fireworks buyer robbed

In Winschoten, a person was robbed on Tuesday evening who had an appointment to buy illegal fireworks. Among other things, the victim had to give up his motorcycle. It happened around 9:30 pm in Marterlaan, near the soccer field.

According to Oldambt Police, more reports of burglaries by banned fireworks dealers have recently been received. Upon delivery of the items, the buyer must hand over the money at knifepoint.

The police continue to investigate the robberies.

16.20: Collision with a cyclist in the city

A cyclist was involved in a collision in the city center of Groningen. The victim is currently being treated in an ambulance. It is not clear if the cyclist should be taken to hospital.

The collision occurred at Steenstilstraat. It is not known who was involved.

15.50: Vehicle collision damage

Two cars collided with each other on the N46 near Thesinge on Tuesday afternoon. How this could happen is not clear.

No one was injured in the accident, but both cars were damaged.

13.45: Power outage in the soup kitchen, Tafelbrug Zuidhorn open

There are power outages around Gaarkeuken and Lutjegast. Gaarkeuken is the building from which bridges run in the area. For this reason, the bridges remain stationary. At the time the malfunction began, the Tafelbrug in Zuidhorn was in operation, so it remains open. The power outage is expected to last until 4:30 this afternoon.

Update: The malfunction has been resolved and Rijkswaterstaat can operate all bridges again.

13.45: Control of alcohol in the city: 350 people must be blown away

On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, the police conducted alcohol checks at various places in the city. 350 people were examined. Two drivers were under the influence of alcohol, and one of the drivers took drugs. In addition, fines were imposed for defective lighting (4x), failure to wear a seat belt (2x) and cycling without lights (1x).

A fire broke out in the stump of a recently felled tree on Arie Bosscherstraat. Firefighters come to put out the fire.

11.50: The car ends up in a ditch along the A7

At the height of the Engelberterplas along the A7, a car left the road and ended up in a ditch. Police said the driver was removed from the vehicle and examined by paramedics, but escaped unscathed. One lane may be closed.

11.50: Cows fall through the gratings and fall into the mud pit (Update)

Twenty cows fell into the dung cellar of a farm in Veldweg in Peest near Norg. This happened after the animals fell through a net for unknown reasons. Most of the cows can be raised by the same farmer. Firefighters came to rescue the last five animals from the basement.

Not a single cow survived the fall.

11.45: Active activists in Groningen city center

Pickpockets are active in central Groningen, the Groninger Internet Courant reports. The municipality advises to be alert in crowded places and to keep valuables such as phone, money and cards with you. Pickpockets have been caught several times downtown in recent months. Police also warned in November that caution should be exercised.

On Wednesday night, a fire broke out in Hereweg in Groningen. The fire service came out with several vehicles. The fire service said one person had inhaled smoke during the fire. Then the victim was taken to the ambulance.
