Parents are often economically independent
The high importance parents place on their income goes hand in hand with a relatively high percentage of the self-employed economically. 9 out of 10 fathers with a partner were economically independent in 2021. This was even lower among cohabiting mothers: 7 out of 10. If they do not (yet) have children, the economic independence of women and men (up to age 45) differs relatively little. The arrival of children is often a turning point in women’s careers. 45 ProThe centenary will work less or stop if they have a child, which is not the case for men 7 procent.
to 55 professionalper cent, single mothers with a child under the age of 12 were less likely to be economically independent. For mothers whose youngest child is twelve or more years old, this was with 65 professional100 percent higher and the difference with single fathers was smaller, too. Relatively few women over the age of 45 without minor children were economically independent. The difference with men is especially great among cohabiting couples.

1 in 3 women who are not economically independent work

They therefore earn less from this work than from the level of social assistance, mainly because they work few hours and/or receive a low hourly wage. 47 proCent received benefits and 21 proThe cent has no income of its own at all. in men who are not economically independent (912 thousand) At 27 percent, the percentage of businessmen is slightly lower than that of women. Most (64 per cent) were on benefits.
2 out of 3 part-time women would like to work more
About 7 out of 10 working women will work part-time (less than 35 hours per week) in 2021. of these are part-time workers 65 professionalThe 100th would want to work more hours under certain circumstances than they do now. Especially if the family income is no longer sufficient, women will think about working more. Even if work and private life can be better combined, they would like to extend their working week. Some are waiting for their employer’s request to come in and work longer hours.
A quarter of the women who do not work now, a quarter of them would have gone to work if conditions were different. Finding work close to home, with the required number of hours, and aligning with their own lives are some of the most important conditions for them to start working (again). Good, cheap childcare may get relatively few women to work (more).

More than 200,000 women are unemployed part-time
approx 7 PRPercent of uneducated working women would like to work longer hours and also be there in two weeks. These are the part-time unemployed. It’s all about 209 doSend women (f 77 thousandand men) in 2021. Mothers with the youngest children between the ages of twelve and eighteen are the most partly unemployed at 9 percent, and childless women more often (4 procents).
