Racing Genk after winning its fourth in a row alongside leaders Antwerp

8.50 pm: Racing Genk has joined the leaders Antwerp FC in the Belgian football competition. Coach Wouter Franken’s team achieved a small home victory over Cercle Brugge: 2-1.

Captain Brian Heinen scored both goals for Genk, one of which was from a penalty kick. For Genk, who started the season with a defeat to Club Brugge, it meant a fourth win in a row.

Antwerp also has 12 points, but has only played four matches. Head coach Mark van Bommel’s squad will not be participating this weekend. The match against Al Ittihad was moved to give Antwerp the opportunity to safely prepare for a return against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Conference League play-offs next week. The first game in Turkey ended in a 1-1 draw on Thursday.

Top horse rider Van Leer has been arrested for a longer period of time

7:45 pm: Dressage rider Dinja van Liere can continue to use her large horse Hermes for a longer period of time. The Stichting Nederlands Olympiade (NOP) has entered into agreements with owner Joop van Uytert to keep the stallion for Dutch sport. Van Liere recently won two bronze medals with Hermès at the World Championships in Herning, Denmark.

Grandorado TN, Nijhof show jumper and racer Willem Greve, will also remain in the Netherlands, in part because the ranking with NOP Greve was missing due to an injury in the world title fight.

The Netherlands Olympic Horse Foundation (NOP) aims to conserve potential Dutch Team horses for TeamNL riders. Owners of NOP-registered horses receive an allowance to continue using their horses with Dutch jockeys.

Chelsea suspends fan for racist comments towards Son

4.31 pm: Chelsea has suspended indefinitely a season ticket holder. The English football club punished the fan for making racist remarks towards South Korean footballer Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend (2-2).

“Following our statement earlier this week regarding racism during the Tottenham game, we can now confirm that we have identified a season ticket holder and have suspended him indefinitely,” Chelsea said in a statement.

The son was yelled at for trying to take a corner. Chelsea previously issued a lifelong stadium ban for fans accused of racism.

Bastianini takes first place in the motorcycle race at the Red Bull Ring

4:03 pm: Italy’s Ena Bastianini will start from pole position in the moto at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday. The Ducati driver was the fastest in the qualifying race at the Red Bull Circuit in Spielberg. It’s his first pole in the top class of the World Speedway Championship.

Italy’s Francesca Bagnaia finished second in the qualifying race. The Ducati Works Team rider has won the last two MotoGP races. Fellow Australian Jack Miller was third fastest to complete the first row of the grid.

The French world champion, defending champion and current World Cup leader, Fabio Quartaro, came fifth in his Yamaha.

MotoGP presents sprint races at every Grand Prix

It’s 13:20 After Formula 1, MotoGP will also have sprint races. The Road Racing World Championship also wants to run a sprint every GP weekend starting next season, with the aim of attracting more audiences and TV viewers. Formula 1 introduced sprint racing last year, but only in a limited number of Grand Prix races.

Just like last season, this season’s short race will take place in three Formula 1 races the day before the race. In MotoGP, this should happen in every GP. “We have all made a lot of sacrifices over the past two years during the Corona crisis to keep this championship going,” Jorge Vegas, president of the International Motor Sport Federation, said at a press conference at the Austrian Grand Prix. “We need more audience, better show, and more TV exposure. So we have to make a better program and make Saturday more attractive.”

Unlike Formula 1, the sprint result does not determine the starting order of the main race on Sunday. MotoGP holds the qualifying score for that. According to Vegas, other details have not been discussed with the teams and drivers.
