Babysitter central to German abuse case: 74 suspects, 33 victims pictured, age last month | Abroad

Germany was once again hit with a major abuse case. The main suspect is a 44-year-old man from the Cologne region. As a babysitter, he allegedly abused children for years and collected massive amounts of child pornography.

Investigators from the cybercrime unit of the NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) in the Cologne Public Prosecution Service found the 40 things from Wermelskirchen through chats in which the suspect allegedly participated. The starting point was an abuse case in Berlin. It is said that the man introduced himself as a babysitter in the Cologne region and abused at least twelve children between 2005 and 2019. It concerns ten boys and two girls. Half of them were not older than 3 years. Some works have been filmed. Chief Prosecutor Ulrich Bremer said at a press conference today that the main suspect, who has been in pre-trial detention since December and has a clean criminal record, “essentially confessed to sexual assault during interrogation.”

The main suspect is a German who is married and has no children. There are a number of victims in their forties, but most of them reached out to parents through online platforms such as eBay. Investigators found 32 terabytes of child pornography in his computer. It took the police 18 days to copy the data. A single hard drive partition alone contains 3.5 million photos and 1.5 million videos. Of that massive amount, 10 percent has now been read. The oldest recordings were made in 1993. Police chief Volk Schnabel said of the footage: I’ve never seen such inhuman cruelty. I wouldn’t have imagined it either.”

In order not to lose the overview himself, the main suspect kept detailed lists. They are now helping track down the other suspects. Of these, 73 have already been identified in 14 of the sixteen German federal states. They allegedly shared photos and videos of child sexual abuse on a large scale. So far, 33 victims have been identified who ranged in age from one month to 14 years at the time of the crime. Among them are five children and children with disabilities. Researchers assume that this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Photos and videos show the most serious forms of abuse and rape. “We must assume that narcotics were used to carry out these procedures,” said investigator Jürgen Heiss. This is currently under investigation. He said the first demonstrable abuse to date occurred in 2005.

According to Federal Home Secretary Herbert Rolle, the prime suspect has been in contact with abuse suspects, and the main suspect is an IT specialist from Monster. The 44-year-old babysitter is said to have given them directions. These were bilateral contacts and according to the Cologne Public Prosecution Service, there are no indications of a so-called pedophile ring.

Three other defendants were sentenced to 10 to 12 years in prison. Another 14 suspects were identified in the investigation. Bergisch Gladbach

Cologne investigators see no direct link between the Wermelskirchen babysitter abuse case and that of parents who allegedly exchanged their children for sexual abuse. The investigation into this case, which came to light in 2019 and is taking place in the Bergisch Gladbach region near Cologne, has led to more than 30,000 unknown suspects, of whom more than 60 are already in custody. 439 suspects have been identified so far. The investigation with seven suspects was transferred to the Netherlands, France, Finland, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden.

Porter and young father Jorg L. The 43-year-old from Bergisch Gladbach is the hub in the network and was sentenced to twelve years in prison and TBS. The court found that it established that he sexually assaulted his 3-year-old daughter dozens of times, filmed or filmed the abuse and transmitted the recordings to like-minded chat partners.
